The evidence for their estimation is based on radiometric age-dating of meteorites. Also they determined the earth’s age from terrestrial rocks. The oldest rocks which have been found so far dated to about 3.8 to 3.9 billion years ago. Again, an important method used is radiometric dating.........

For those billions of years, Earth has been fashioning an ecological balance that we have been working hard to destroy in only 200 years, through war, un-checked resource extraction, polluting emissions and habitat destruction.
