How many of us know about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Perhaps you have heard of its existence, but do you ask the world if it is abiding by it? Which of the world’s economic or military tyrannies is respecting the human rights of its nation? The United Nations has put together beautiful briefing papers which discuss issues that are of great concern and require priority planning to deal with serious conflicts and problems across the world. If you are interested, please read these UN Briefing Papers to see how well informed they are, and then despair at the lack of action. As an intelligent species, we are very good at identifying on paper patterns and problems and sources and solutions, but heaving the bulk of inert and apathetic humanity into a modicum of effective action appears to be an undertaking that defeats our intellectual abilities..........Similarly, The Student World Assembly has put together their briefing paper which I found even more useful, organized and truthful. I strongly believe each one of us can educate ourselves and learn about what is happening. Don’t be indifferent to learning, asking and doing. Examine and analyze what is happening on your planet, consider what you can do, and act upon it for saving humanity.

This picture will haunt me as long as I live. Kevin Carter, who recieved the
" PULITZER PRIZE " winning photo taken in 1994 during the Sudan famine. The picture depicts a famine stricken child crawling towards an United Nations food camp, located a kilometer away. The vulture is waiting for the child to die so that it can eat it. This picture shocked the whole world. No one knows what happened to the child, including the photographer Kevin Carter who left the place as soon as the photograph was taken. |
The world is facing a hunger crisis unlike anything it has seen in more than 50 years. Statistics show that about 925 million people globally are hungry, and story mirrored by 2011 world hunger and poverty facts and statistics. The use and recruitment of child soldiers by government forces and allied paramilitary groups is also an ongoing problem. The recruitment of children into the Chadian National army is routine in internally displaced persons sites in the Goz Beida area of eastern Chad. In other camps, Sudanese refugees are also subject to recruitment into the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), a Sudanese rebel group that receives backing from the Chadian government. Read about child soldiers, examine the facts, and consider their situation and what we can do?
